Insect Repellent

Here’s a Question posed by one of our viewers. This one is appropriate for summer.

What is the only insect repellent recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that is based on a natural ingredient?

<p>Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus has been scientifically shown to protect against bites by mosquitos, no-see-ums, and even ticks for up to six hours.</p>
<p>OLE does not harm clothing or painted surfaces, is non-greasy, and its scent is similar to that of citronella.</p>
<p>The purified oil is available from several herb supply companies, and can be mixed with water to make an effective spray. However I would recommend buying Repel™, a commercial spray available at most Target or Wal-Mart stores.</p>
